Highland Tech is 2-8 against Bessemer City since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Highland Tech Rams will head out on the road to take on the Bessemer City Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. Highland Tech has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
On Tuesday, Highland Tech didn't have too much trouble with Cherryville on the road as they won 56-40. Given Highland Tech's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 255th, while Cherryville is ranked 543rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Addie McCraw continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 20 rebounds. McCraw is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Reese Thomas, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Bessemer City entered their tilt with Burns with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Bessemer City enjoyed a cozy 43-29 victory over Burns on Tuesday.
Highland Tech's victory bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Bessemer City, their victory bumped their record up to 7-10.
Highland Tech took a serious blow against Bessemer City in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 60-22. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Highland Tech was down 39-11.
