On Wednesday, the Anacostia Indians faced the School Without Walls Penguins in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Anacostia breezed by School Without Walls at home to the tune of 50-22. The win was familiar territory for Anacostia who now have six in a row.
Anacostia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nayjah Duvall led the charge by scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Duvall has scored at least 25% of Anacostia's points. Another player making a difference was Shayonna Nave, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Anacostia's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.2 points per game. As for School Without Walls, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.
Anacostia and McLean will round out the year against one another at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday at. School Without Walls will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Eastern at 5:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
