Basketball Game Preview: Fredonia Lynx vs. El Capitan Eagles

The Fredonia Lynx will square off against the El Capitan Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Fredonia's defense has only allowed 29 points per game this season, so El Capitan's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Fredonia is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Red Mesa just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They received a blow as they fell 50-35 to the Redskins.

Fredonia's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Danni Waters, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards, and Neveya Estrada, who posted 12 points. The dominant performance gave Waters a new career-high in rebounds.

Meanwhile, El Capitan hadn't done well against Greyhills Academy recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. El Capitan was the clear victor by a 37-15 margin over Greyhills Academy. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Fredonia better keep an eye on Ruth Timpson. She was instrumental in El Capitan's win, putting up 19 points and five steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Timpson has scored at least a third of El Capitan's points. Another player making a difference was Quincie Hammon, who had four points.

Fredonia's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for El Capitan, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.

Fredonia took their victory against El Capitan when the teams last played two weeks ago by a conclusive 49-29. Will Fredonia repeat their success, or does El Capitan have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
