Cascades recap Oct. 9, 2012
Michigan Center extended the longest winning streak in Cascades this week by beating Addison, 53-14. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Cardinals.
Michigan Center took down the Panthers 53-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
East Jackson's dynamic duo of Hunter Coolbaugh and James Snider proved tough for Manchester to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Coolbaugh threw for 91 yards and Snider had 78 yards receiving. Nathan Siegrist helped East Jackson's passing attack out by catching two balls for 23 yards.
Tre Talmage made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Trojans lost to the Flying Dutchmen. The 5-foot-8 junior pulled down one interception.
Frank Vuocolo was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 16 carries, he ran for 180 yards as Grass Lake lost to Manchester. Teammate Justin Wright added to the ground attack by rushing for 130 yards.
The Warriors' Logan Konopka and Jared Lazarz have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Konopka has thrown for 829 yards this season, while Lazarz, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 21 catches for 410 yards. Addison's Jared Bruner leads the league in rushing yards with 739.
A big matchup in Cascades this week will be when Wes Gall's team takes on Troy Allen's team. As it stands, the Flying Dutchmen are in third, while the Cardinals are in first.
Michigan Center led the league in scoring this week after putting up 53 points on Mark Beougher's team.
