Ganado has gone a perfect 10-0 against Flatonia recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Indians will welcome the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Ganado is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.
Ganado took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Shiner, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Indians came out on top in a nail-biter against the Comanches on Tuesday, sneaking past 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Indians have posted against the Comanches since April 1, 2022.
Saylor Bures spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Raelynn Pena and Paisley Hajovsky did most of the damage at the plate: Pena went 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs, while Hajovsky scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Laci Holt, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Flatonia's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Weimar.
Flatonia saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brynlee Zimmerman, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Abbie Uzzell also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Ganado's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-5-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Flatonia, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8-1.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ganado hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .409. However, it's not like Flatonia struggles in that department as they've averaged .395. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Ganado's way against Flatonia in their previous meeting back in March, as Ganado made off with a 10-0 victory. Do the Indians have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
