The Conneaut Area Eagles will take on the Girard Yellowjackets at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Conneaut Area's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over North East. The high-scoring effort was just what the Eagles needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Kaylin Faust was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Faust was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Hailey Gilliland was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Riley Miller, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Conneaut Area hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Girard). They put the hurt on Cathedral Prep with a sharp 18-3 victory on Tuesday. The win was familiar territory for the Yellowjackets, who have now won three matchups in a row.
Catie Bennett made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Bennett was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Girard got a massive performance out of Madison Chaffee, who went 2-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that Chaffee has hit this season. Olivia Bax was another key player, going 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Girard's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Conneaut Area, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Conneaut Area got the 'W' in their previous meeting on April 9th against Girard by a conclusive 19-9 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Yellowjackets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
