The Susquenita Blackhawks will take on the Sharon Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Susquenita sitting on 21 straight victories and Sharon on 18.
Susquenita is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Philipsburg-Osceola an 11-0 shutout. Considering the Blackhawks have won 18 games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Ayahna Fleisher was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Esther Feltenberger was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tierney Stuempfle, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.
South Park typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Sharon proved too difficult a challenge. They had just enough and edged out the Eagles 2-1.
Like Susquenita, Sharon also got a great game from a two-way player: Madelyn Vogan. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Vogan was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Susquenita pushed their record up to 21-0 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Sharon, their win bumped their record up to 22-1.
Both Susquenita and Sharon just can't seem to miss. The Blackhawks have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12 hits per game. However, it's not like Sharon struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 1.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
