The San Manuel Miners struggled with offensive rebounds on Saturday (the Desert Christian Eagles had 12 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. San Manuel took a 49-30 bruising from the Eagles. San Manuel has not had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Several Miners players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Laila Ruiz, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Ruiz has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last seven times she's played. Jasmine Sanchez was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
It was another big night for Anika Mulkey, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and five steals for Desert Christian. Another player making a difference was Addison Jones, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
San Manuel's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-9. As for Desert Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 15-8 record this season.
San Manuel will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Wildkats at 5:30 p.m. on January 24th. Duncan will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Desert Christian will take on the Pumas at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
