The Waterloo Vikings will take on the David Anderson Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Waterloo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.1 runs per game this season.
Waterloo took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They never let Memorial get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Red Devils recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Jolean Hampton made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Waterloo let Kristlyn Kehrer and Isabelle Knepp run wild. Kehrer went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Knepp went 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Kehrer has hit this season. Brooke May was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Waterloo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Memorial only posted a batting average of .000.
Meanwhile, David Anderson was able to grind out a solid win over Wellsville on Thursday, taking the game 7-4.
Waterloo's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for David Anderson, their win bumped their record up to 4-8.
Waterloo might still be hurting after the 13-3 loss they got from David Anderson in their previous matchup back in April of 2019. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
