The Holmes Aces entered their tilt with the Manteo Redskins with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Holmes snuck past Manteo with a 68-64 win on Thursday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Marquis Ketrell boston was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points. Those 26 points set a new season-high mark for him. Trent Spear was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with four steals.
Several Redskins players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zay Williams, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The matchup was Williams' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Granitzki, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 15 rebounds.
Holmes pushed their record up to 5-2 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.7 points per game. As for Manteo, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Holmes will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Gates County at 8:00 p.m. on December 26th. Manteo will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Eastern Christian HomeSchool at 12:30 p.m. on December 28th.
