The P.K. Yonge Blue Wave will square off against the Buchholz Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. P.K. Yonge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.
P.K. Yonge will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs last Tuesday, then bounced right back against Countryside Christian on Thursday. Everything went P.K. Yonge's way against Countryside Christian as P.K. Yonge made off with a 17-2 victory. The Blue Wave's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Makenzie Radford was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. She also hit two doubles, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alison Sanetz, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Lila Sutton was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
P.K. Yonge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Buchholz sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 15-14 win over West Port on Tuesday.
Emily Sorah was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Juliana Abraham, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Buchholz's record is now 3-1. As for P.K. Yonge, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. P.K. Yonge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having got 0 of their hits per game. However, it's not like Buchholz struggles in that department as they've got 0 of their hits this season. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
P.K. Yonge suffered a grim 15-8 defeat to Buchholz when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can P.K. Yonge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
