Softball Recap: Clover Hill Snags Sixth Victory in Last Seven Games

Clover Hill had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Monacan on Thursday. The Cavaliers blew past the Chiefs 13-5. Considering the Cavaliers have won five matchups by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Brianna Miller made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Paige Marshall and Alejandra Wittman did most of the damage at the plate: Marshall went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Wittman went 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Madison Hayes was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

Clover Hill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monacan only posted an OBP of .382.

Clover Hill is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Monacan, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
