Softball Game Preview: El Camino Eagles vs. Woodland Wolves

El Camino has gone a perfect 3-0 against Woodland recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Eagles will welcome the Wolves at 4:30 p.m. El Camino will be strutting in after a win while Woodland will be coming in after a loss.

El Camino is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Natomas a 16-0 shutout on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Oaklee Schwartz made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Claire Schwartz, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That stolen base was her first of the season. Euliyah Torres was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four RBI and one run.

El Camino was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .682. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Woodland fell victim to Destiny Christian Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 10-0 to the Lions. That's two games in a row now that the Wolves have lost by exactly ten runs.

El Camino's win bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Woodland, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-13.

Everything went El Camino's way against Woodland in their previous meeting back in March, as El Camino made off with an 11-5 victory. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
