After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Staunton, North Clay/Clay City were happy to have found some success on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Johnston City 44-41.
Miah Ballard was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points. The game was her seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis VanDyke, who scored eight points.
North Clay/Clay City has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. As for Johnston City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Clay/Clay City won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Wesclin at 4:30 p.m. on December 30th. Wesclin will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Johnston City, they will head out on the road to face off against Christopher at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
