The Fossil Ridge SaberCats waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They escaped with a win against Broomfield by the margin of a single free throw, 51-50. That's another feather in the cap for Fossil Ridge, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Fossil Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sean Purvis led the charge by scoring 11 points along with two steals. Cayden Clagett was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Fossil Ridge pushed their record up to 10-3 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.6 points per game. As for Broomfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-4.
Fossil Ridge will be playing in front of their home fans against Monarch at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Monarch knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Fossil Ridge likes a good challenge. Broomfield's road trip will continue as they head out to face Poudre at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th. Poudre is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
