After three games on the road, Philo is heading back home. They will take on the Meadowbrook Colts at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Philo pushed their score all the way to 76 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 91-76 bruising from Morgan.
Despite the loss, Philo got a solid performance out of Drew Wright, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wright has scored all season. Talon Preston was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Meanwhile, Meadowbrook struggled with assists on Tuesday (River View had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Meadowbrook received a tough blow as they fell 71-54 to River View.
Despite their loss, Meadowbrook saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Michael Ray, who scored 19 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Masyn Campbell, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Philo has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Meadowbrook, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.
Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant forwards against one another: Wright and Colton Delancey. Wright has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 12.2 points and 1.6 steals. For his part, Delancey has averaged 11.3 points and 1.3 steals.
Philo strolled past Meadowbrook in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 by a score of 63-45. Will Philo repeat their success, or does Meadowbrook have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
