South Bend Saint Joseph took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over Goshen. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Huskies as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Jay Nuber looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, South Bend Saint Joseph's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Owen Balint, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. Josiah Gustine was another, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Elkhart hit Culver Academies with a four-run first inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles lost 8-0 to the Lions. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Eagles were not able to get on the board.

Culver Academies' loss dropped their record down to 16-5. As for South Bend Saint Joseph, their victory bumped their record up to 22-6.

Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. South Bend Saint Joseph has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .486. However, it's not like Culver Academies struggles in that department as they've averaged .508. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

South Bend Saint Joseph took their win against Culver Academies in their previous matchup back in May of 2018 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
