Even though the Wickliffe Blue Devils scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, the Harvey Red Raiders still came out on top. Harvey strolled past Wickliffe with points to spare, taking the game 74-56. Given Harvey's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 264th, while Wickliffe is ranked 781st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Harvey was led to victory by Braylon Johnson and Chase Goines. Johnson dropped a double-double on 16 points and 19 rebounds, while Goines dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Johnson pulled down eight or more rebounds. Armani Hall was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Harvey's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Wickliffe, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Harvey will finish 2023 at home by hosting Chardon at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Wickliffe will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Berkshire at 2:15 p.m. on January 6, 2024.
