Even though the Ridgeland Titans scored an imposing 62 points on Friday, the Northwest Rankin Cougars still came out on top. Northwest Rankin escaped with a win against the Titans by the margin of a single free throw, 63-62. The victory was all the more spectacular given Northwest Rankin's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Titans are ranked 16th).
Ridgeland's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Khameron Snow, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Phil Nelson, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Northwest Rankin and bumps their season record up to 9-17. As for Ridgeland, their loss dropped their record down to 19-9.
Northwest Rankin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Ridgeland also has no future games currently scheduled.
