The Corinth Riverhawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Warrensburg Burgers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Corinth has given up an average of 6.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Corinth couldn't beat Granville on Wednesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the seventh inning. The Riverhawks took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Horde. The Riverhawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Sam Tangora was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those RBI were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Keegan Baker, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Warrensburg earned an 11-7 win over Hadley Luzerne on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Burgers in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.
Louis Lang was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Lang was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Caleb Remington was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Maris Martin was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.
Warrensburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Warrensburg's record now sits at 9-3. As for Corinth, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Corinth has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Warrensburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Corinth might still be hurting after the 9-1 defeat they got from Warrensburg when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Riverhawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
