Basketball Recap: Billingsley Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Billingsley entered their contest against Autauga Academy on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Billingsley Bears lost to the Autauga Academy Generals at home by a 38-19 margin. The matchup marked the Bears' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Billingsley's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Alana Jones, who posted five points along with eight rebounds and five steals, and Derrica Motley, who had seven points in addition to six boards and five steals. Jones is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 31 games she's played dating back to last season.

Even though they lost, Billingsley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 31 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Billingsley's defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-5. As for Autauga Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-5.

Billingsley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 65-20 victory against Maplesville on the 17th. As for Autauga Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 36-17 win against LAMP on the 17th.
