The Century Centurions will challenge the Pope County Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Century is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Century will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Agape Christian on Thursday. The Centurions put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 20-3 victory. The Centurions haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Jaylee Vanmeter was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Vanmeter was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Hayden Anderson was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Baylea Crain was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Century always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Agape Christian only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, Pope County came up short against Goreville last Wednesday, falling 11-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Pirates in their meetings with the Blackcats: they've now lost five in a row.
Pope County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bella Fasolo, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.
Century's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-6. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Pope County, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.
Everything went Century's way against Pope County in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Century made off with a 17-1 victory. Do the Centurions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
