The Herriman Mustangs entered their tilt with the Copper Hills Grizzlies with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Herriman walked away with a 55-48 win over Copper Hills on Friday. Given Herriman's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while Copper Hills is ranked 53rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Malcolm Johnson, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cale Barclay, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Herriman pushed their record up to 14-4 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Copper Hills, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Herriman will face off against Mountain Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mountain Ridge knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Herriman likes a good challenge. Copper Hills' road trip will continue as they head out to face Bingham at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Bingham is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
