Cedarville hasn't had much luck against Southeastern Local recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Indians will take on the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. Southeastern Local took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Cedarville, who comes in off a win.
Cedarville had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt East Clinton on Thursday. The Indians blew past the Astros 12-1. The Indians not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 30, 2024 (when they won 16-0).
Wyatt Percival made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Percival was also solid in the batter's box, earning three RBI, one run, and one stolen base. That run marked the first that he has scored this season.
In other batting news, Zach Creeden and Jacob Lide did most of the damage at the plate: Creeden got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Lide went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI Creeden has posted since back in April of 2024. Xavier Pauling also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Cedarville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Southeastern Local was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 9-5 to Greenon. On the bright side, the five- run effort marked the Trojans' highest-scoring contest to date.
Hayden Davis stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Another player making a difference was Eli Goodbar, who went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Southeastern Local's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Cedarville, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Cedarville suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Southeastern Local in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
