The West Catholic Falcons will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Fruitport Trojans at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (West Catholic has 15 straight wins, Fruitport has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, West Catholic got themselves on the board against Hamilton, but Hamilton never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Hawkeyes 49-0 at home. The result was nothing new for West Catholic, who have now won seven games by 26 points or more so far this season.
West Catholic haved a senior duo take command as Charlie DeBruyn rushed for 180 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries and Mike Murphy rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries.
Meanwhile, Fruitport's 8-3 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a hard 34-19 fall against Spring Lake on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Fruitport can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 315th, while Spring Lake is ranked 64th).
West Catholic's victory was their 11th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-0. They've been dominating across those contests too: they took their wins by an average of 31 points. As for Fruitport, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
West Catholic came up short against Fruitport in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 28-20. Will West Catholic have more luck at home instead of on the road?
