Basketball Recap: First Coast Christian Victorious

First Coast Christian hadn't done well against Temple Christian Academy recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The First Coast Christian Knights escaped with a win against Temple Christian Academy by the margin of a single free throw, 69-68. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Knights were down 44-29 in the second quarter.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead First Coast Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tavarion Stevens, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Stevens a new career-high in assists (seven). Chase Bradshaw was another key player, going 9 for 15 on his way to 20 points and six rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Temple Christian Academy lost, don't look at Daiyon Williams. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds. Williams has been hot for a while, having posted 11 or more boards the last nine times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Devine, who posted 13 points.

The win got First Coast Christian back to even at 6-6. As for Temple Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

First Coast Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 87-26 victory against Hope Christian Academy on the 7th. As for Temple Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 54-48 win against Baldwin on the 7th.
