The Hough Huskies had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 55-40 win over Cuthbertson. Given Hough's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while Cuthbertson is ranked 281st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hough found their leader in underclassman Kate Breault, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Breault set a new season high mark in blocks with two. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Galombeck, who scored 13 points.
Hough has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Cuthbertson, they bumped their record down to 3-7 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
Hough's road trip will continue as they head out to face Porter Ridge at 12:00 p.m. on December 21st. Hopefully Porter Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Wednesday. Cuthbertson won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Garinger at 9:00 a.m. on December 21st. Hopefully Garinger focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Wednesday.
