The Nickerson Panthers lost against the Lyons Lions back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Nickerson fell 49-37 to Lyons. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Nickerson in their matchups with Lyons: they've now lost four in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Nickerson lost, one person who can't be blamed is Taylor Engelland. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals. It was the first time this season that Engelland grabbed two or more steals.
Nickerson's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Lyons, they pushed their record up to 7-9 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nickerson will take on Pratt at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pratt presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Nickerson in Kansas (Pratt is ranked 61st, while Nickerson is ranked 260th). As for Lyons, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hoisington at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
