The Cienega Bobcats were the 52-50 winner over the Tucson High Magnet School Badgers when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Cienega fell 51-41 to Tucson High Magnet School on Thursday. Cienega has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Cienega's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mia Kelley, who scored ten points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Elizabeth Puente, who scored nine points.
Cienega has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Tucson High Magnet School, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cienega will take on Desert View at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tucson High Magnet School, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Nogales at 6:00 p.m. on January 15th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Nogales is ranked 100th, while Tucson High Magnet School is ranked 108th).
