Coquille fell to Dayton 42-12 last week, the largest margin of any game. Makel (Moe) Faith was a bright spot for the Red Devils, as he ran for 81 yards and caught 2 passes for 13 yards in the loss.
Coquille made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,447 from 12,847. The advance stemmed from a 42-12 victory over David Thomason's team last week.
The Red Devils' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Zach Breitkreutz threw for 58 yards and Joseph Scolari had 28 yards receiving. On the ground Faith chipped in 81 yards. Kody Courtright helped Coquille's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 12 yards.
Faith was a passing and rushing force as Coquille fell to the Pirates. Faith's favorite target this week was Scolari, who caught 2 passes for 28 yards.
Breitkreutz put up the best numbers through the air as the Red Devils lost to Dayton.
Coquille's Breitkreutz and Scolari have formed a dream team this season, leading 3A Special District 2 in both passing and receiving yards. 5-10 quarterback Breitkreutz has thrown for 632 yards this season, while Scolari has 24 catches for 361 yards. Bandon/Pacific's Wil Lozano leads the league in rushing yards with 608.
The Red Devils led the league in points allowed with 42.
