The Springs Valley Blackhawks and the Paoli Rams will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Springs Valley sitting on seven straight victories and Paoli on six.
Springs Valley scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Austin and snuck past 101-98. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Deion Edwards was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 56 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Konner Chase, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Meanwhile, Paoli was able to grind out a solid victory over Eastern on Saturday, taking the game 58-48. Given Paoli's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Eastern is ranked 349th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Springs Valley is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Paoli, their win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1.
Springs Valley ended up a good deal behind Paoli in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, losing 70-56. Can Springs Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
