Even though the Las Animas Trojans have not done well against the Fowler Grizzlies recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Las Animas came out on top against Fowler by a score of 45-36. The win was familiar territory for Las Animas who now have four in a row.
Las Animas was led to victory by Jadann Eck and Emma Netherton. Eck dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds, while Netherton dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Chanel LaBarge , who scored six points along with six assists.
When it comes to explaining why Fowler lost, one person who can't be blamed is Andrea Maestas. Despite the final result, she scored 20 points along with four steals. Maestas is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Las Animas' win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-1. As for Fowler, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2.
Las Animas will head out on the road to face off against Swink at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fowler will take on Jefferson in a holiday battle at 12:00 p.m. on December 21st at.
