After a string of three wins, the Pinnacle Panthers's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 47-34 to Merit Preparatory Academy. Pinnacle was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Merit Preparatory Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Pinnacle lost, one person who can't be blamed is Heather Kerr. Despite the final result, she scored 24 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 steals. The match was Kerr's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jostyn McLean, who scored 8 points along with 16 rebounds and 3 steals.
Merit Preparatory Academy found their leader in underclassman Malyssa Moore, who scored 21 points. Moore continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayla Coltharp, who scored 9 points.
Pinnacle's loss dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Merit Preparatory Academy, their win bumped their record up to 1-3.
Pinnacle will be playing at home against Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Merit Preparatory Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Grand County at 4:30 p.m. on December 14th.
