The Swain County Maroon Devils pushed their score all the way to 56 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Towns County. While losing is never fun, Swain County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 415th in North Carolina, while Towns County is ranked 178th in Georgia).
Towns County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brelan Sieveking out in front who scored 20 points along with five assists and two steals. Sieveking has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times she's played. Emma Lallement was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Swain County's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Towns County, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
