After some red-hot offensive attacks in their last three matchups, The Oakville Acorns finally came back down to earth on Friday. They were outmatched by Mossyrock at home and fell 54-12. While losing is never fun, Oakville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington football rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Mossyrock is ranked third).
Daniel Rodas and Andres Rhoades certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Rodas picked up 115 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Rhoades threw for 142 yards and a touchdown. Rodas hasn't dropped below 100 receiving yards for four straight games.
Oakville's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-1 Naselle (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 74.4% over those games). As for Mossyrock, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Oakville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mossyrock will be playing at home against Northwest Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
