If the Niwot Cougars were feeling good off their 56-34 takedown of the Fort Morgan Mustangs last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Niwot suffered a tough 67-46 defeat at the hands of Northridge on Saturday. Niwot has struggled against Northridge recently, as their game on Saturday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Niwot's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brighton Langenegger, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Langenegger's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Sebastian Stenz, who scored 12 points.
Northridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Drake Walker led the charge by scoring 21 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Walker hasn't dropped below two blocks for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Louis Pisano, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Niwot's loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Northridge, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 4-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Niwot will take on Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Mountain View focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Saturday. As for Northridge, they will be playing at home against Skyline at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Allowing an average of 51.3 points per game, Skyline has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this contest.
