Luella's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Sandy Creek Patriots as they made off with a 14-6 win. Considering the Lions have won 13 matchups by more than six runs this season, another big win was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Mikayla Thurman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 while posting 5 RBIs, 2 doubles, and 3 runs. Those three hits set a new season-high mark for her. Taegan Brinson was another key player, going 1-for-2 while logging 2 stolen bases, 1 RBI, and 1 run.

On Sandy Creek's side, Brielle Thompson was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 while logging 2 doubles, 3 RBIs, and 2 runs. Thompson has also been pretty much perfect as far as strikeouts are concerned: she hasn't struck out any for seven straight games.

Luella has been performing well recently, winning six of their last eight games. That's given a solid lift to their 15-7 record this season. Those victories came by way of their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.8 runs over those games. As for Sandy Creek, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-12.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Luella is set to face off against their familiar foe Mt. Zion at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Sandy Creek will take on their in-conference opponent Fayette County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
