Megan Griffith made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Bella Thien was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Allison Friedel, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Civic Memorial kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highland only managed three hits.
Meanwhile, Jersey was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 7-1 to Calhoun.
Jersey saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maleah Derrick, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Jersey's loss dropped their record down to 5-10-1. As for Civic Memorial, their win bumped their record up to 12-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Civic Memorial has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Jersey struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Civic Memorial was able to grind out a solid victory over Jersey in their previous matchup on April 14th, winning 9-5. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
