The Hunters Lane Warriors''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Beech, falling 44-9. Hunters Lane has struggled against Beech recently, as their matchup on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Caddin Smith threw for 32 yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Carvarious Bowers rushed for 50 yards.
Leading Beech to victory were Chelton Swafford and Dieu Kai Williams. Swafford rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries, while Williams rushed for 70 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries.
Hunters Lane's loss was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Sadly, the team can't blame their woes on tough opposition, as that stretch included 1-9 Hillsboro and 4-7 Wilson Central (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 43.8% over those games). As for Beech, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hunters Lane will face off against Portland at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Portland has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since August 25th. As for Beech, they will head out on the road to face off against Springfield at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
