Vigor had won four straight games and Sammy Dunn did his part to make it five on Friday. The Wolves walked away with a 33-21 victory over the Citronelle Wildcats for which the team can thank Dunn, who threw for 272 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 51 yards and one TD. He is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last three games he's played.
Vigor's leading receiver Gerritt Holcombe was Dunn's top target yet again, picking up 118 receiving yards and one score. Holcombe was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 57 yards.
Vigor's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Citronelle, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-3.
Looking ahead, after each having a week off, Vigor and Elberta will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. The Warriors will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last. As for Citronelle, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 18-13 loss against Bryant on the 26th.
