The Washburn Beavers will venture away from home to square off against the Wisdom Pioneers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Washburn has three straight victories, Wisdom has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Washburn is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 17-7 margin over Ashland on Friday. The Beavers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by six runs or more this season.

Blake King and Brayden Boulier made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, King tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Boulier pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. King also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Washburn is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-3 otherwise. At bat, King went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Boulier went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. King is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last 12 games he's played dating back to last season.
In other batting news, Damien DuMont was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Grady Churchill also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Washburn kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Wisdom suffered their closest loss since May 15, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of Hodgdon by a score of 7-5.
Camden Pelletier was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Pelletier was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Alex Bebout was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Joel Desjardins was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Wisdom's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Washburn, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Washburn might still be hurting after the 16-5 loss they got from Wisdom in their previous meeting on May 1st. Can the Beavers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
