The False River Gators suffered their biggest defeat since December 11, 2023 on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against North Central, falling 84-49. While losing is never fun, False River can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 372nd, while North Central is ranked 83rd).
False River lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jacob Baker, who scored 21 points. That was a full 42.9% of False River's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Matthew Graffeo, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds.
False River has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season. As for North Central, their win bumped their record up to 15-9.
False River will head out on the road to challenge Mt. Hermon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Central, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Westminster Academy.
