The biggest upset of the week belonged to Otay Ranch, who took down 99th ranked Otay Ranch, 31-26. Jevante Reed ran for 198 yards and caught two passes for 42 yards in the win.
Olympian extended the longest winning streak in Metro - Mesa this week by beating Eastlake, 35-24. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.
Christopher Humphery put up the best numbers through the air as Olympian beat the Titans. He finished with eight completions for 181 yards and two touchdowns. Humphery's favorite target this week was Christein Humphery, who caught two passes for 65 yards.
Chris Martin was the best wideout in the league this week as the Mustangs lost to Chula Vista. Martin racked up four receptions for 87 yards. Giovanni Meza helped Otay Ranch's passing attack out by catching one ball for 63 yards.
Kyle Hawkins provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Otay Ranch fell to the Spartans. He completed six passes for 190 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 174 yards.
Anthony Lacsina's team's Hawkins and Martin have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hawkins has thrown for 1746 yards this season, while Martin, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 43 catches for 1102 yards. Chula Vista's Reed leads the league in rushing yards with 1302.
Eastlake's Aaron Baltazar is a mere 10 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. Baltazar has rushed for 990 yards on 109 carries so far this year.
A big matchup in Metro - Mesa this week will be when Otay Ranch takes on John Mcfadden's team. The Mustangs are in second place, while the Titans are in third place.
Judd Rachow's team moved up to 219 from 259 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Spartans climbed the ranks as a result of besting Otay Ranch 31-26.
