Basketball Recap: Mitchell County Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Adrianna Burke and Sariyah Chester

If Mitchell County was riding high fresh off their 71-20 takedown of Pataula Charter Academy last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mitchell County Eagles took a 57-43 bruising from the Calhoun County Cougars on Friday. The Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in January.

Mitchell County's loss came despite strong showings from Sariyah Chester and Adrianna Burke. Chester posted 14 points, to go along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Burke put up six points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Chester has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Tytionna Draggs, who had seven points and five boards.

Mitchell County's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Calhoun County, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Mitchell County will face off against Terrell County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Terrell County will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Mitchell County surely won't give up without a fight. As for Calhoun County, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 42-25 defeat against Early County on the 7th.
