Del Oro is 2-8 against Rocklin since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Del Oro Golden Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rocklin Thunder at 7:30 p.m.
Last Friday, Del Oro was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 53-47 to Granite Bay. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Del Oro has scored all season.
Caden Pinnick put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 20 points along with nine rebounds. That was a full 42.6% of Del Oro's points, marking the eighth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Brenden Hawkins, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Rocklin put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They secured a 72-68 W over Whitney. Given Rocklin's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Whitney is ranked 170th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Del Oro's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-6. As for Rocklin, their victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-0.
Del Oro couldn't quite finish off Rocklin in their previous matchup on January 5th and fell 93-91. Will Del Oro have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
