Basketball Recap: Coral Gables Skates Past Mater Brickell Academy with Ease

Coral Gables had to skate by with only a one-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 31-point drubbing they dealt Mater Brickell Academy on Monday. The Cavaliers blew past the Bulls, posting a 71-40 victory.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Coral Gables to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alexander Edghill, who went 7-for-11 en route to 20 points and seven steals. That's the most steals Edghill has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Janov, who shot 82% from the field on his way to 22 points and three steals.

Mater Brickell Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Sebastien Rodriguez, who scored 15 points, and Dilan Pulido, who put up 11 points.

Coral Gables now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Mater Brickell Academy, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Coral Gables wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 69-47 win against Carol City on the 25th. As for Mater Brickell Academy, they have also already played their next contest, a 69-31 victory against Westland Hialeah on the 25th.
