Softball Recap: Grant Has No Trouble Against Franklin Parish

Grant won the last time they faced Franklin Parish and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Grant Cougars put the hurt on the Franklin Parish Patriots with a sharp 11-5 win. Considering the Cougars have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Peyton Kirtland was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Kirtland was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, Grant let Carleigh Roe and Morgan Middleton run wild. Roe went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Middleton went 4-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. The dominant performance gave Middleton a new career-high in hits. Saydie Willson was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Grant's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Franklin Parish, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grant will square off against Tioga at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Franklin Parish, they will face off against Peabody at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
