The Keenan Raiders kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of A.C. Flora by a score of 48-45. Keenan lost against A.C. Flora in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 66-64 score last time.
Keenan's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Samiyah Hicks, who scored 11 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Taelor Lee-sutton was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with 3 steals.
A.C. Flora got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Terriana Gray out in front who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Skylar McCray, who scored 12 points.
Keenan's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for A.C. Flora, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Keenan will take on Timberland at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Timberland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday. As for A.C. Flora, they will face off against Spring Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
