After a string of three wins, the Clay Panthers's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 52-30 walloping at the hands of Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington.
Clay's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Emma Emnett, who scored 20 points, and Sophia Craft who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. Emnett scored a full 66.7% of Clay's points, the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Clay's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clay has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Green at 6:30 p.m. on January 8th. Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington will take on North Adams at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. North Adams presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington in Ohio (North Adams is ranked 152nd, while Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington is ranked 526th).
