Halifax Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 77-54 margin over Kerr-Vance Academy. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Halifax Academy has posted since December 1, 2023.
Thad Harris was his usual excellent self, scoring 33 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Landon Peoples, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Lawrence Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 61-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pungo Christian Academy.
Lawrence Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mari Larry, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds, and Nike Wiggins who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Wiggins hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games.
Halifax Academy's victory bumped their record up to 4-15. As for Lawrence Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-6.
Friday's contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Peoples and Larry. Peoples has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 12.7 points and 1.6 steals. For his part, Larry has averaged 15.7 points, 2 steals, and 5.8 rebounds.
Halifax Academy came up short against Lawrence Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 70-57. Can Halifax Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
